« Granicus Sales Up 200%, Illustrates Rising Demands for Open & Cost-Efficient Government  »

Today we announced that Granicus was named to the San Francisco Business Times Top 100 list of the Fastest Growing Private Companies. We also unveiled our record-breaking sales performance, which included an astounding 200% increase over 2010. I wanted to take a minute to highlight some of the government technology trends that are fueling this growth. As these trends and demands continue to influence government, I know we’ll see our growth continue to trend upward.

After nearly 12 years in the business, I’ve never seen so much momentum behind the use of technology to empower citizens and to make government more open and efficient. Here is a breakdown of the three largest government technology trends influencing our business today; I believe these are significant drivers behind our recent growth:

  • Transparency Demands

All over the news, a growing number of local, state, and federal agencies are pushing to achieve a higher standard of transparency through open data and other innovative applications. Not only are citizens requesting more information about government policies, spending, and programs, they are also more likely to vote for politicians who champion transparency by a 3 to 1 margin. Granicus is experiencing a growing surge of requests to use our cloud platform to fulfill open government needs in the legislative process. Some of our successes have received national attention this year. Not only has the U.S. House of Representatives' Houselive.gov project been applauded for its transparency results using Granicus’ mobile platform (House Streams Mobile-Friendly Video), but twelve of our customers received 2011 Best of the Web awards for using Granicus to open government.
  • Lower Costs & More Efficient Workflows

This year, government agencies are also dealing with a substantial budget crunch—they need to operate more cost-efficiently and they need make it easier for the public to track and follow policy outcomes. Granicus recently released a couple of new products designed to automate, manage, track, and create a truly paperless legislative process. Within a 6 months, the number of inbound requests for these products has increased by 50%. One of these products includes, iLegislate, it was released into Beta earlier this year. The app helps governments use iPads to go paperless and improve productivity in their meetings. This is a trend we’re seeing take shape very quickly in the government sector. In fact, 75% of the cities we polled were either discussing using or already using iPads for Council. The other new product that's becoming increasingly popular this year is our new agenda management solution. It has already helped nearly 100 government agencies save an average of 329 hours per month on their legislative process—which equates to big dollar savings across the board. These types of solutions, which can save tax-payer dollars, while helping agencies enhance fundamental workflows, are non-negotiable in government today. I expect to see this part of our business continue to grow in the coming years.
  • Governing in the Cloud™

According to a recent survey we conducted, 84% of government respondents are planning to move their applications to the cloud to lower IT costs and improve operational efficiency. Granicus’ cloud is currently being trusted by nearly 1,000 government agencies to deliver rich, meaningful government content to their staff and citizens. And, this number is quickly growing because the cloud is proving to be a major cost-cutting strategy in government. Every day, Granicus is alleviating the burden and costs associated with hosting, storing, managing, and securing government video, data, and other rich features. We’re expecting the popularity of the cloud model to continue to rise and drive demands in our business over the next several years.

I’m proud of our achievements this year and excited about the opportunity that lies ahead for Granicus in 2012 and beyond.

Also, an article about Granicus' growth would not be possible without acknowledging the trust and support of our current customers along the way. We are honored to work with you to increase transparency and efficiency—you represent some of the most innovative agencies in the nation. Granicus is approaching a 100% customer satisfaction rating this year, we are committed to keeping our customer satisfaction and success levels high for years to come.

My coworker just received a 30-year award and the ceremony was recorded and put on our website via Granicus. How can I download a copy of that video? Can Granicus videos be downloaded?
