Today, I’m excited to announce the latest addition to our citizen engagement platform, CivicIdeas™. CivicIdeas combines the power of crowd sourcing with an online forum to help government agencies understand and prioritize the needs of their community. As a pioneer in citizen feedback tools, like eComment, we’re excited to offer a new way for government to engage their community online.
As I mentioned in a press release earlier this morning, “social networking" is fueling a new era of citizen engagement. Citizens increasingly expect government websites to have a convenient way for them to express their ideas and give feedback. We wanted to give government simple and productive tools to achieve this.
Citizens can easily contribute to government planning and decision-making by posting new ideas, voting for others, and sharing ideas to the social grid. And it’s easy for government staff too. With CivicIdeas they can facilitate collaboration while effortlessly measuring public opinion. Staff can even focus ideas by creating forums on particular initiatives, making any input received specific to that topic.
Customer Highlight
The City of Austin, TX is leveraging CivicIdeas to empower citizens to contribute ideas for community improvement. “We now have a tool to help us learn about the topics that matter most to our citizens. We also have a way to quickly prioritize ideas and put productive plans into action. All of this enables us to actually show our residents that we’re responsive,” said Larry Schooler, Community Engagement Consultant for the City of Austin.
Since they began using our social ideation platform, they’ve received over 420 ideas, put 50 of them into action, and have already implemented 18 of the citizen-submitted ideas. To hear first-hand how CivicIdeas has changed the way Austin interacts with citizens, watch our webinar!
