The municipal clerk profession holds a special place in my heart not only because it's the essential "keeper" for all public records, legislation, and one of the true facilitators of transparency, but because Granicus has really built its business around making clerks operate more efficiently. In late 2009, the Town of Prescott Valley, AZ built a high tech Auditorium/Council Chambers and wanted to incorporate the latest technologies to enhance government transparency and maximize their “going green” efforts. For nearly four years, Prescott Valley has been successfully streaming their council meetings on the Web with Granicus; the obvious next step was to add some new features to help them further streamline their Council meeting process with automated, paperless workflows.

Through the years I've trained hundreds of people on how to use their Granicus solution. I thought it would be useful to summarize a few words of wisdom for clients just getting started with your Granicus solution. For new clients, long-time clients, or for those of you who are considering joining the family, there are a few tid-bits in here for you! After all, it's always good to learn new techniques to improve your workflow, increase transparency, and maybe even help the environment with publishing paperless agenda packets.
